Afterdark

Afterdark
I don't like the Australian version of the book cover of Haruki Murakami's "After Dark"... so I painted over it using black acrylic.. looks waaay better now and I can resume after a few pages! =DD <- couldn't continue before due to the cover art being really distracting/put me off XP I like the acrylic paint texture! minimalistic and fits the mood more!!

I like how you can still see the raised text on it! though.. I can't believe you painted over a book ;D the ones ive read have been a mixture of black/red sexy photography and the jazzy purple doo-dahs. i have to admit, the black/red cover of norwegian wood first got me to pick up a murakami novel!

The raised text made me wanted to paint over even more as it creates a minimalistic style with texture (eerie texture too as the paint's quite reflective under lights, you can see the wave-stroke of the hard brush ^^).. I don't like most of the current batch of murakami's book covers.. I find those ero chicks really misleading... they seem like erotic books instead of mysterious strange surreal books ^^; I like the black cat on kafka on the shore though =D

I painted over the sleeping willow book too! no way ero chicks gonna spoil my murakami's world! =DD <- I have a history/habit of painting over book covers that I don't like and design my own ^^;

I think tvpeaple rather fascinating (instead of scary).. the scariest short story is that woman who had insomnia D:
